The “Silhouette” custom Vans Sk-8 Mid. They are called this because, as you may notice, on each side-panel there is a different image, which is centered around some silhouette in nature. On the right shoe there is a shark underwater and a solar eclipse. On the other there is a squirrel on a foggy forest floor, and a butterfly fluttering in front of the moon. The shoes also have different colored laces, both relating to whatever is on the outside panel of each shoe. For this custom I wanted to do some calm landscapes, more a painting and less like a design. All in all, I think I did a decent job of that. I also used only white backgrounds for the photos to increase this effect. Make it look more like a art gallery. This project was also an experiment, where I tried a few new materials and tools. Like any experiment, some of them… were failures. Due to that and the fact that I worked on an old pair of shoes, these are not the cleanest custom shoes I have done…but such is life.
